ALBA BAPTISTA
At age 15, Alba Baptista started her career as the main character in Simão Cayatte‘s MIAMI. For her performance she received the Best Actress Award at the Festival Ibérico de Ciné. During the following years, Alba developed a strong cinema career in Portugal, as well as starring in roles on three popular Portuguese series. Her film work includes: CAMINHOS MAGNETYKOS by Edgar Pêra, in which she played the role of ‘Catarina’; EQUINOCIO by Ivo Ferreira; FATIMA opposite Harvey Keitel, Sônia Braga, and Joana Ribeiro, which was directed by Marco Pontecorvo; PATRICK, which was the directorial debut of Gonçalo Waddington, and which was in competition at San Sebastián International Film Festival, where it premiered; and in the period drama L’ENFANT. Alba plays the lead role of ‘Ava’ in the Netflix series WARRIOR NUN - for which she has received international acclaim, and which has been renewed for a second season. She made the list of IMDb’s Top 10 Breakout Stars of 2020, and was one of this year’s European Shooting Stars at Berlinale. Most recently, Alba played a leading role opposite Isabelle Huppert & Lesley Manville in the feature film MRS HARRIS GOES TO PARIS, directed by Anthony Fabian. She can next be seen in the comedic-thriller BORDERLINE directed by Jimmy Warden.
