ALINA TOMNIKOV
Finnish-Russian actress Alina Tomnikov is considered to be one of Finland’s finest actors. She graduated from the Theatre Academy of Helsinki in 2013, and soon began working on-screen in both Finland, and Russia. In recent years, she has started to work on more international productions. Her previous work includes: Dome Karukoski’s THE GRUMP; as ‘Alicia’ in NIGHT GOES LONG; Aku Louhimies’s acclaimed war epic THE UNKNOWN SOLDIER; ARCTIC CIRCLE; SYKE; Aleksi Mäkelä’s feature film LOVE RECORDS; RATAMO; as well as Teemu Nikki’s feature EUTHANIZER playing the role of ‘Elisa’; and J-P Siili’s drama VELJENI VARTIJA. Alina played the lead in Heikki Kujanpää’s television series DONNA, which won the Diversity & Inclusion award in MipCom in Cannes, and has been sold worldwide to countries including Sweden, Norway, and the US. She portrayed ‘Natalya Alekseevna’ in the Russian drama CATHERINE - THE PRETENDERS. Alina played the lead role of ‘Tuuli Kovero’ in the Sky Original television series FUNERAL FOR A DOG. The eight-part series is based on Thomas Pletzinger’s acclaimed novel of the same name, and it was filmed in Italy, Germany, Bulgaria, New York, & Cuba. She played the lead role of ‘Ripe Simola’ in Pamela Tola’s drama THE WORST IDEA EVER. More recently, she was in Aki Kaurismäki’s acclaimed feature film FALLEN LEAVES which premiered in competition at Cannes Film Festival. Alina was a European Shooting Star for Finland at Berlinale.
