DANILA KOZLOVSKY
Danila Kozlovsky was born in Moscow and trained at the St Petersburg Theatre Arts Academy. He made his stage debut as ‘Edgar’ in KING LEAR for Maly Drama Theatre, for which he was awarded a Golden Sofit Award for Best Debut. He went on to perform several leading roles for Maly, including ‘Ralph’ in LORD OF THE FLIES and ‘Victor’ in WARSAW MELODY. His other notable stage roles are ‘Lopakhin’ in THE CHERRY ORCHARD, and the title role in HAMLET, both for Maly Drama Theatre. On screen, he first came to prominence when he was awarded Best Actor by the Russian Guild of Film Critics for his performance in GARPASTUM, which premiered at the Berlin Film Festival. He also won Best Actor for his role in WE ARE FROM THE FUTURE in 2008 and other film roles followed, most notably in: THE TARGET; SISSY; CRIME AND WEATHER; LEGEND NO. 17; as ‘Dimitri Belikov’ in VAMPIRE ACADEMY; and SOULLESS - the highest grossing Russian picture of 2012. Other film performances include: STATUS: SINGLE, FLIGHT, SOULLESS 2, VIKING and Ilya Naishuller’s HARDCORE HENRY. Danila directed and starred in the hugely successful disaster feature CHERNOBYL: ABYSS. International audiences will know him from his role as ‘Grigory Mishin’ in the BBC’s MCMAFIA, and the key part of ‘Oleg’ in the final season of the hugely successful series VIKINGS. More recently, he played the role of ‘Lord Anton Melnikov’ in the British Netflix mini-series TREASON, which was directed by Matt Charman.
